Delta State Police Commissioner, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah had assured Deltans of the Command’s readiness to combat crime and check criminal activities as well as enforce government’s directives in relation to Covid-19 pandemic in all parts of the state
Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah who spoke to journalists in Asaba on Monday on sundry issues, including the Issele Azagba Community problems, said that the Police has no magic wand, rather collective responsibility, and however urged Deltans to provide useful information on criminal activities that will help the police to curb crimes in the state.
He said: the police will comply with government directives and embrace the principles and practice of effective community Policing to enhance crime fighting” and commended the Delta State Governor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his commitment, particularly his security consciousness and exceptionally proactive towards the Protection of lives and property in the state.
According to the Police boss, “ Deltans are blessed having Dr Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor, he has listening ears to every Issue: he is security conscious, Proactive and in touch with the people at the grassroots, he knows what to do in every situation, hence the security agencies are performing well”
While saying that information was key to better performance of security agencies, the Police Commissioner said that without credibile Intelligence gathering, security agencies could only do little and called on Deltans to cooperate with the police and other security agencies by making available critical information on activities of criminals in their areas
On Issele Azagba Community problems, the police boss blamed the situation on lack of information, and the absence of police post in the community, and however assured that the police command was on top of the situation with a view to bringing the hoodlums to arrest as well as regular patrol of the area by different units of Police crack team 24 hours a day, adding” the IGP has already set the template on community policing for its take off and directed that every state command put in place an advisory committee comprising all segments of the society, realizing that security was the responsibility of everyone.”
He disclosed that plans were under way to establish a police division at Issele Azagba Community to beef up security in the community, but noted that the challenges there in the community were more or less internal, and called on the people to cooperate with the police to effectively check crime in the area
Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah also unveiled measures put in place to check crime and nforce government’s directives during post Covid-19 Pandemic lockdown era, disclosing that the Command had remained Proactive and had mapped out strategies to check crime and ensure that the boarders are closed as ordered by the state government, and commended the press for its continued supports in the activities of the Police in the state, adding that the police will do everything possible to ensure crimes become a thing of the past.
