A group called Wase Progressives (WAPRO) has alleged that for two consecutive days, the innocent voters of Wase Local Government of Plateau State have been suffering from a distraction by an unknown quantity in Wase politics.
According to a press statement issued yesterday by the group’s chairman, Mohammed Yusuf and Secretary, Nantim Dogo, out of the blues, the Plateau State Commissioner for Water Resources, Ibrahim Idi Waziri, whose eight depressing years as commissioner have brought nothing, is now joining the contest for the House of Representatives, Wase Federal Constituency, Plateau State purportedly on the orders of Governor Jonah David Jang.
It said, “As Commissioner for Water Resources for good eight years, Waziri could not drill a single borehole in Mavo town, his birthplace. It took the intervention of a member of the House of Representatives for the people of Mavo town to get boreholes, wherefrom they now get drinking water.”
Part of the statement reads: “As patriotic Wase citizens, we feel deeply concerned by this last minute distraction for three inter-locked reasons. First is, who are the agents of doom that presume this is the time to pull blind wool over our eyes, throwing into our space, a political liability as a candidate? Secondly, how on earth can any true Wase politician market expired political product like Ibrahim Idi Waziri? Thirdly, what kind of political arithmetic is it that a maggot is foisted on the apple called Wase, at a critical moment of decision such as this?
It is practically impossible to market Ibrahim Idi Waziri for any elective position in Wase Local Government. It is the biggest political joker for the once united Wase constituency, which is known for its political supremacy in the history of the state.”
