Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto state says the most plausible solutions to Nigeria’s myriad of problems lie in education.
Governor Wamakko spoke in Sokoto on Wednesday shortly after he was conferred with the 2014 Excellence Award in the Advancement of Primary Education in Nigeria.
The award was bestowed on Wamakko by the Association of Primary School Headmasters of Nigeria.
The Governor said his administration is determined to carry the education sector in the state and Nigeria in general to the highest level.
“This is part of our obligation and the oath of office not to win an award.” he enthused.
He went further to say, “We will continue to do our best to address the needs of the electorate in all aspects of human endeavour,”
He added that the state government will continue to provide the needed conducive atmosphere for effective teaching and learning in schools, at all levels.
The National President of the Association, Alhaji Lawal Mahmud commended Wamakko for making his administration,” Teacher-friendly.”
Mahmud also commended the state government for recently disbursing N 200 million as loans to primary school teachers in the state.
“We are however appealing for the donation of vehicle loans to the teachers and the provision of a vehicle for the state’s chapter of the association and that of the national among others,” Mahmud, appealed.
