Violence: Taraba govt. reads Riot Act to traditional rulers, LG Chairmen

Taraba state Government says, hence forth traditional rulers and Chairmen of Local Government will be held responsible for any outbreak of violence in their areas.
This was part of resolutions reached during the State Security meeting chaired by the Acting Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar with Chiefs and Chairmen of the affected areas which took place at the government house,Jalingo.
The meeting received reports on the last security situation from Wukari, Ibi, Donga, Takum, Bali, Gassol and Gashaka and noted that there was improvement in the areas.
However, operational challenges were noted in Donga and Takum, while the Acting Governor pledged to donate more patrol vehicles to enhance their operations.
The meeting, also noted that armed banditry and other forms of criminalities were responsible for the sustenance of the crisis hence the need to increase patrol at the border areas.
Chairmen of Gassol and Bali local government were directed to compile the number of refugees from their areas to enable the state government intervene in the area of health, due to outbreak of diseases recorded in the camps.
On the security problem in Dampar Ibi local government, Chairman of the Local Government and Security Agencies were told to collaborate with their Plateau State counterparts for permanent solution to the problems.
The meeting also warned that any individual who is secretly fuelling the crisis if identified would be dealt with no matter his status in the society.
