Commander General of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and the United Nations Ambassador for Peace, Alh Ali Sokoto has hailed the Inspector-General of Police on his order to various State Commissioners of Police to screen members of the Vigilante Group in their states.
He disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna yesterday and called on members of the group in various states to abide by the order and present themselves to the CPs for the exercise as their contribution in restoring security and peace in the country.
Alhaji Ali Sokoto further called on Nigerians to support governments’ effort in tackling current insecurity in parts of the country.
“We are also calling on chairmen of State Commands of vigilante to organize training exercise for their members in line with the objective of setting up the group,” he said.
He added that vigilante has a very important role to play in securing the nation; a good example is what happened in Adamawa state recently.
