The Vice Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Lapai, Professor Mohammed Nasir Maiturare has been bestowed with merit award’ for his immense contribution to educational development in Niger State, Nigeria and service to humanity.
Maiturare received the award from the Niger State chapter of Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) yesterday in Minna in a ceremony to mark Democracy Day Anniversary and Merit Award, with the theme; The role of opposition parties in entrenching good governance and national building.
The Vice Chancellor in an interview after the presentation expressed gratitude and humility for the recognition despite not been in active partisan politics adding that this will spur him to do more for the people in his current position and future engagements.
“I am exited and humbled by the recognition given to me by IPAC. IPAC is a platform for strengthening democratic process in Nigeria, entrenching good governance, fostering national development and an advocate of inclusive government, all laudable ideals which I strongly share”.
He maintained that democracy in Nigeria is growing stronger while the role of IPAC has contributed in strengthening democracy and advocating for good governance, constructive opposition and credible elections-vital ingredients for successful modern democracies.
He applauded the organization for its strides thus far in forging understanding and and providing a common platform for all political parties in the Country. Our democracy is indeed growing consistently with the efforts of IPAC.
Maiturare reiterated his achievements in IBB University to include;
creating enabling environment for teaching and learning, expanding its programs, putting up new structures, Scholarship Programme to promote excellence among students and provision of loans to resource-poor students.
Also, he has placed IBB University Lapai on the national and international map, especially in the areas of agriculture and geological research.
National Chairman of IPAC, Chief Peter Omeh in his speech advocated for all inclusive government by the ruling party to ensure everybody is carried along in governance regardless of political parties and even representation and development of the country In his remarks, the State Chairman, Hon. Mammam Garba said that IPAC has enjoyed support from the state government and the ruling party APC. He advocated for a constitutional revenue sources for IPAC in the country.
