The North West senior photo- journalist with Vanguard newspaper and founding member of Kaduna Correspondents Chapel, Chief Olusegun Ajayi has bagged an award of excellence from the Ogale Progressive Union in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi state for his contributions to the community and steadfastness in his chosen profession.
While announcing the award during the chapel meeting yesterday, Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel Kaduna state, Mallam Garba Mohammed said Chief Olusegun Ajayi has been a committed member of the chapel who has helped in the training of many photo- journalists, not only in Kaduna state but in the North West Zone.
In his remark, the Secretary of Nigerian Union of Journalist, Kaduna State Council, Chief Dominic Uzu said time has come for journalists to appreciate their own adding that the media are quick to celebrate other professionals but forget their own.
He therefore commended the Correspondents Chapel for associating with one of their own as he received an award of excellence Chief Olusegun Ajayi fondly called Olu by colleagues was one of the first photo journalists in Kaduna state.
He started his career at Transworld Film and Photo Agency as a photo journalist in 1974 and was promoted to press photographer in 1975 a position held till 1983. He joined the Vanguard Media Limited in 1986 and briefly moved to Guardian as Deputy Chief Photographer, but was recalled by Vanguard Media Limited as Chief Photo journalist, North West Zone, a position he held up till today. He is married to Mrs Roseline Adunni and has four children.
