The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has through its Department of Monitoring And Inspection, warned against vandalisation of water projects located at the Railway Stations across the Federal Capital City (FCC).
The Director Department Of Monitoring And Inspection Mr. Olawale Labiyi, made this point penultimate week, during inspection exercise at Idu Railway Station.
Labiyi, who was represented by Malam Sani Abdullahi Tswako, a Quantity Surveyor, said that the Department was interested in the inspection of new works, water supply and reticulation works in the city.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Head, Public Relations Unit, Department Of Monitoring And Inspection, Josie Mudasiru.
The statement reads: “We are here to inspect the water supply and reticulation to all Train Stations and ensure their functionality.
“All the 12 Stations have been connected to water from FCT Water Board and we want to ensure the work was properly executed.”
He further stressed the need for the protection of the water Chambers from vandals.
The Director also explained that the quality of works covered by Certificate Of Valuation No.33 is satisfactory as it was done in line with contract specifications.
Speaking earlier, Mr. Valentine Obumeyan who represented the contractors revealed that the initial plan was to put up a borehole in each of the stations.
According to him, “but the FCT Transportation Secretariat insisted we connect the Rail Stations to Water Board hence this new phase of the project.”
