The USAID Mission Director in Nigeria, Mr. Stevens Ohke has said that the mission is ready to partner with the Kebbi State Government to enable them to achieve stable development in the area of water, health, education, agriculture and other human endeavours.
Ohke who is the team leader stated this yesterday when he and his team of experts paid a courtesy visit to the State Governor, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in his office in Birnin-Kebbi
He assured the governor that the existing mutual understanding and supports currently being enjoy by the state government in the areas of education and health, would be sustained while agriculture and water resources would be added to the partnership project and be built upon.
Responding, the State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu described Kebbi state as a unique State where no interest group dominates, adding that the diverse nature of the state had made it possible for Muslims and Christians to live together without rancour.
He told the visiting mission director that Kebbi state is an agrarian state, of which majority of the people engages in both wet and dry seasons farming.
The governor also told his audience that the state is also gender sensitive as more than 45 percent of women population are appointed into key political position as well as top civil service positions.
He therefore called on the United States Government to come to Kebbi state to invest especially in the area of agriculture and solid mineral resources.
