USAID, Global Fund to donate 2.2 million mosquito nets to Kebbi

About 2.2 million treated mosquito nets will be donated to the Kebbi State Government by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Geneva-based Global Fund, as part of their support in the fight against malaria, state Coordinator of Malaria Action Programme (MAPS), Malam Hassan Gwandu revealed.

According to NAN, the state coordinator had officially revealed that whileUSAID is to donated about 1 million mosquito nets as part of the United States’ President Barrack Obama’s anti-malaria initiative to be distributed through the state Malaria Action Programme (MAPS), Global Fund would provide 1.2 million treated nets which would be issued through the Federal Ministry of Health.

Gwandu further explained that children who have completed their immunization within nine months will be eligible to 1 mosquito net, adding that the USAID will keep on with distribution of mosquito nets through Ante Natal Centers (ANC) to pregnant women on their first visitation for the ante- natal program.
