The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged the President-elect of the United States of America, Joe Biden, to seize the opportunity of his electoral victory to build an equitable world, especially in the face of hunger and starvation across the globe.
In a statement issued yesterday by the National Publicity Secretary of IPAC, Agbo Major, IPAC also cautioned against actions capable of causing political imbroglio that can implode the country, saying every reservation against the outcome of the polls should be challenged legally at the law courts.
The statement said “The Inter Party Advisory Council Nigeria (IPAC) congratulates Joe Biden on his remarkable, outstanding and phenomenal victory in the 2020 American presidential election. It is democracy in action. The tasks ahead are enormous. It is time to heal, time to reconcile and unite Americans after a hard fought presidential contest.
“Americans have chosen their leader for the next four years, an eloquent testimony of power belonging to the people. The people’s mandate is sacrosanct and should be respected by all stakeholders in the electoral process to avoid unnecessary political imbroglio that can disintegrate the country.”
IPAC further pointed out that there is no doubt that polls in some States are being challenged, urging the aggrieved candidate to seek legal redress in order not to overheat the polity as America is the bedrock of democracy, due process and rule of law.
IPAC therefore congratulated Senator Kamala Harris, on becoming the first woman Vice President-elect of the United States, saying her election is a confirmation that America is a country of possibilities where citizens can actualize the famed American dream.
“Harris has broken the political glass ceiling. Her success story will spur more women to participate in electoral politics and aspire for the highest office in the country.
“Today, the world is more divided than ever, political upheavals, terrorism, poverty, climate change and diseases, particularly COVID-19 pandemic that will task the leadership acumen and ingenuity of the Joe Biden presidency. It calls for compassionate leadership from the United States in building a better, greater, prosperous, peaceful and equitable world.
“IPAC expects a robust US-Nigeria relation that will strengthen Nigeria’s emerging democracy and raise the people’s standards of living. Nigeria needs the America’s expertise in the war against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and corruption. It is a new dawn for the good people of America”, the statement said.
