African Action Congress (AAC) has congratulated Senator Joe Biden of Democratic Party on his victory in the United States of America Presidential Election, even as it urged President Donald Trump to restrain supporters from resorting to self-help.
In a statement issued yesterday by the chairman of the party, Leonard Nzenwa, AAC said it is victory for the American people, victory for sustainable democracy in America and sweet music in the ears of all lovers of constitutional governance.
“The American people have spoken with their ballots, their voice heard and mandate accepted. The will of the people should be respected as power resides in them.
“President Donald Trump fought gallantly and should accept the electoral verdict of the people with equanimity and in traditional spirit of sportsmanship despite his allegations of electoral malpractices.
“As the incumbent president his actions and reactions will have far reaching effects in America in particular and the entire world in general.
“AAC urges him to approach the court for peaceful resolution of any disputes arising from the election and restrain his supporters from resorting to self-help that can impede the country’s entrenched democracy.”
