By Hassan Haruna Ginsau

The United States has strongly condemned Tuesday’s multiple bomb blasts in Jos which left over 200 people dead, as well Sunday’s bombing in the Sabon-Gari neighborhood of Kano, describing the vicious attacks on Nigerian civilians and the abduction last month of more than 200 girls in Chibok as unconscionable acts starkly demonstrating the criminality of the perpetrators who continue to target defenseless civilians.

The US, through a press release issued by its embassy in Abuja, extended its deepest condolences to the families of the victims, while also expressing concern that it had seen reports that tensions are high in Jos, joining the voices of those who are appealing for calm.

On the issue of the more than 200 kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls, the embassy said the search for them is on-going, noting that Nigerians were in the lead.
