The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) at the weekend hinted on its plans to upscale its assisted developmental projects, particularly for women and children in Delta State come 2021 year .
Mrs Patience Ogbewe, a Director Oversees Development Assistance (ODA) at Delta State Ministry of Economic planning who spoke to our correspondent in Benin City after her review of the year 2020 activities in her department, explained that the UNICEF had planned an integrated Community development to empower women and children in the state, adding” Of particularly interest, is the new focus being a holistic intervention in six Communities in the state that have been identified to improve the lives of women and children. It is the empowerment of women to cater for their children not necessarily financial empowerment but in all facets of life.
“Generally, we envisage a situation where activities done in 2020 will be scaled up and strengtgened in the coming year (2021) because of COVID-19 pandemic, we are not able to implement some of the plans we had for 2021”.
