The Taraba State Acting Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar said the Major goal of his administration is improving the healthcare services in the state.
The acting governor, who was launching the Y’ello sector mobile medical intervention scheme midweek in Jalingo said his government would do all it takes in the state to ensure the success of the programme.
The Acting Governor called on the citizens of the state, especially those living in areas where health services are not accessible to avail themselves of the scheme which is free of charge.
Earlier, the state commissioner for Health, Oliver Wubon said Taraba state is fortunate to be selected for implementation of the scheme in the North-east zone.
MTN Foundation is promoting the Y’ello sector project in collaboration with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency to increase the access of people to health facilities, especially those living in rural communities.
Also speaking, senior manager with the MTN, Augustine Iyashere said the selection of the state followed the verification visit to public health centers in states of the North-east two years ago by officials of the Y’ello mobile sector project and National Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
