The United States of America is set to empower women and youths in Kaduna State in Agro-business.
The Managing Director Feed the Future Nigeria Agribusiness Investment Activity, Dr. Adams Saffer disclosed this yesterday during the launching of Agro-business in Kaduna State.
According to him, the five-year USAID Feed the Future Nigeria Agribusiness Investment Activity aims to strengthen the business enabling environment to promote private sector investment in the agriculture sector.
He added that the program targeted women and youths empowerment, working with mainstream agro-business saying 40% of the interventions is reserved for women while 20% are for youth”.
According to him, Agro-business is U.S programme in Nigeria, because agriculture is the light line for the future of Nigeria.
“The activity with $200 million in new lending and facilitate $100 million in new investment across the five crops in the following seven designated States: Kaduna, Niger, Kebbi, Benue, Delta, and Ebonyi, and Cross River.
“ Special emphasis will be given to MSMEs that are women- and youth-owned or have the potential to hire significant numbers of women and youth,” He said.
In his remarks, the Vice Chairman Da-AllGreen Veggies and Herbes , Engineer Stephen Yakubu Atar said that agriculture is the solution to Nigeria economic situation.
Engr. Atar stressed that Agriculture is very important in Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.
