TStv to up content aggregation for satellite TV viewers in FCT, others

An indigenous pay television company, TStv, have entered a strategic partnership with international brands with the aim of improving content for teeming pay television viewers in FCT and other parts of the country.
This is coming on the heels of advanced arrangement to ease its planned takeoff of premium and uninterrupted transmission in Abuja and across other cities in Nigeria.
According to the Chief Operating Officer, TStv, Mr. Benjamin Vida, the company has signed a technical agreement with Azercosmos, a satellite holding company based in Azerbaijan, to support content aggregation among other technical support for TStv.
He said the open Joint stock company owned by the Azerbaijan government, had profiled TStv and assessed the viability of doing business in Nigeria.
He assured that all requirements needed for the partnership has been met and the benefit of the new arrangement will soon be felt by subscribers.
“In line with our promise to Nigerians, we have entered into fresh and strategic relationships with reputable international brands with the aim to supply us premium and uninterrupted transmission and content,”
Vida added that the company is also in talks with other international content providers to acquire more premium content and channels.
While acknowledging some of the teething problems that disrupted the October 1 2017, takeoff date, the Chief operating officer said inexperience has been a principal challenge the company has had to deal with.
He however said the company is has overcome most of the challenges and is focused on future gains.
“In our one year of operations, we have been challenged by myriads of setbacks and stepping stones, but in the true image of Nigeria, we have not and we do not intend to give up.
“We have had challenges with our distribution chains, but I think the principal challenge has been that of inexperience. Some of these challenges have cost us several glitches.
Though challenges cannot be wished away, we are working on them to ensure that they are over come”
He said the company is bringing in new innovation into the industry by providing quality and affordable services including its popular pay-as you-go hourly billing.
Already, the cable TV provider said they have recruited experts in the industry to manage the company.
“These talents will bring their wealth of expertise and experience on board the TStv ship and give it a more defined and purpose driven leadership.”
Speaking on the new deal, the Chief Financial Officer of Azercosmos, Samaddin Asadov, said with its huge population, Nigeria occupies a strategic position on the continent.
