From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi
A social critic and former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Alh. Abubakar Tsav has backed President Buhari over the release of over 1 billion additional fund for arms purchase to fight insurgency.
Alh. Tsav in an interview with Peoples Daily at his Makurdi residence yesterday said that the President has the absolute powers to take such amount of money from the consolidated funds to fight terrorism without recourse to the National Assembly.
According to him, no amount of money is too much to fight the Boko Haram.
He maintained that President Muhammadu Buhari is a man of integrity who has served in various capacities in the past administrations and has never been found corrupt, saying that he realized that it is for the same arm funds that the erstwhile National Security Adviser, NSA
Col. Sambo Dasuki is being tried in court.
“Buhari is sensible and he would not fold his arms and watch politicians deceive him in diverting the funds for campaigns. I believe he will not make the same mistake made by Goodluck Jonathan administration for which the former NSA is being tried in court.
“I also support his amnesty programme for Boko Haram terrorist because if this could be granted to Niger Delta militants, then it should be extended to them. Imagine, if you are to try and imprison them, which prison can accommodate them, what that means is that government will expend all its resources building prisons “,he said.
