In a bid to help boost the greening and beautification of Abuja, Former Director of Parks And Recreation, Luka Bulus Achi has donated 67 Tree seedlings to the FCT Department of Parks And Recreation, as part of activities to mark his 67th birthday celebration.
Achi, who served in the Department as Director before his retirement from service, said the donation also represents his belief in the mandate setting up the Department.
He added that he is always happy to contribute his quota, to ensure that the present Director and her Team succeed.
The former Director, who was accompanied by Nathaniel Atebije, a retired Deputy Director and some members of the Nigerian Institute Of Town Planners (NITP) to present the seedlings to the department, according to a statement from Assistant Director, Information, Josie Mudasiru.
In her response, Director of Parks And Recreation, Hadjia Riskatu Abdulazeez, who received the items said it’s always a thing of joy to have the support of her former boss.
She said this donation underscores the fact that developing, and beautifying Abuja is not a task to be left in the hands of government officials alone.
According to her, the former Director by his gesture has shown that he wants the progress and success of not only the Department, but the FCT Administration as a whole.
She therefore urged members of the public to emulate the retiree’s laudable initiative, by cooperating with the Administration in keeping the FCT green, clean and safe for business and recreational activities.
