The Police have arraigned a 30-year old trader, Louis Ekle, in a Senior Magistrates’ court, Mararaba, for allegedly causing death of a pedestrian by dangerous driving.

The prosecutor, Insp. Samuel Kwaza, told the court that the accused had on July 8, drove unregistered KIA Spectra in a dangerous manner and knocked down a pedestrian along Abuja-Keffi Expressway.

He says: “The accused drove recklessly and in a very dangerous manner and knocked down a middle-aged man, identified as Alabi.’’

Kwaza said the deceased sustained serious injuries which resulted to his death later in the day at the hospital.

He said the offence contravened the provision of Section 27 CAP 548 of the Road Traffic Act.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Senior Magistrate, Jerimiah Danladi, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison pending hearing on his bail application and adjourned the case until August 18. (NAN)
