From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Tiv Youth Council Worldwide has lamented that Tiv nation had continually been used as cannon folder for the unity of the nation.
This is just as they also, accused the Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, and General Theophilus Danjuma of being the masterminds of the crisis between Jukun and Tiv in Taraba state simply to give President Muhammadu Buhari government a bad name.
President General of the group, Mr. Mike Msuaan, who made the accusation during a press conference in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, called on the federal government to investigate the role of General Danjuma and the Taraba state governor, noting that the two have kept mute since the beginning of the crisis in the state.
The group recalled that General Danjuma in particular had asked Nigerians to pick up arms and defend themselves at a public event in Jalingo, and even went to United Kingdom and America calling on them to intervene in Nigeria giving killings as an excuse, wondered why he has suddenly lost his voice now that his Jukun brothers are killing Tiv people in his home state.
“Killing everywhere and every time is bad but why is General Danjuma silent and why has he suddenly lost his voice now that his Jukun brothers are killing Tiv people in his home state,” the group questioned.
The President whose speech was delivered by Mr Teryila Apine, said the group strongly believe the Tiv people and Jukun people could harmoniously live in peace as has been in the past if the political masterminds fuelling the war were isolated and dealt with.
“Their prime objectives aside ethnic dominance is to stir dissent against the government by raising the tempo of war to an Inferno’s pitch, thereby fuelling national insecurity for political gains just to paint the President Muhammadu Buhari government in negative light.
“This worrisome trend has successfully been deployed surreptitiously by opposition political figures in flash areas to stir ethnic bile and generate needless tension across the nation just to give the government a bad name.
“To these fiendish pitchers against the government, no magnitude of destruction is too weighty so long as it tarnishes the reputation of the Buhari led government.
“We therefore call on the government to rise to the occasion and apprehend all these political players instigating and fuelling violence for cruel political gains.
“We, herein particularly invite the relevant security agencies to immediately proceed with a thorough investigation of Governor Darius Ishaku and Gen. T. Y. Danjuma rtd in the interest of peace and unity of the two ethnic groups,” he said.
TYC also, said it was their belief that the apex government will spare no sacred cows in the quest for national peace and security, adding “a safer Nigeria will surely be a more productive Nigeria with prosperous citizens.”
