Following the anxiety that mounted last week over the health condition of the Former Lagos state Governor, and National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the senator representing Lagos-Central District and wife of the former governor, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said her husband remains hale and healthy and he’s only taking time out to rest.
Tinubu made this known while briefing newsmen at the weekend, after the 12th edition of Lagos central senatorial district town hall meeting, hosted by her in a bid to empower women, young ones and widows.
The former governor was reported to be critically ill and was rushed to the United States for emergency medical treatment last week.
She said, “I don’t know why people will wish him ill every time; he’s getting older and I’m getting older too. I will be 54 soon and he’s in his 60s, so do you expect him to keep working like that and wouldn’t have time to rest?. They can wish him whatever they want but God wishes him well.
“If my husband is sick, will I be here? Please for heaven sake; so, I love the people more than I love my husband? I’m not going to entertain that, I’m here and that is enough proof.” Tinubu stated.
Also, another leader of APC and close associate of the former governor, Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku, denied that Tinubu is seriously ill. The APC leader said he spent the last two days with Tinubu in London where “he’s doing well, hale and hearty.”
He revealed that Tinubu and himself had long discussions about how to position the party ahead of the 2015 general elections to ensure success at the polls.
He said, “I would like you to know that I spent the last two days with our indefatigable and revered leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Jagaba of Africa, in London. He is hale and hearty and very fit. He will soon be among us. We discussed on how to fashion out some strategies about how our party can excel in the coming general elections.”
