The Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has predicted that his party- All Progressive Congress (APC) would win the forthcoming presidential election.
He said the party is prepared to instill good governance, transparency and corruption-free government.
Speaking during the flagging off campaign for his governorship bid in Sokoto, on Sunday, Tambuwal also condemned the calls for an interim government over the perceived inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free and credible poll.
The Speaker noted that those calling for postponement of the scheduled February election are ignorance of the law, adding that the country’s constitution does not provide such discourse in a democratic setup.
He noted that PDP is afraid of defeat in the presidential election and maintained that his party (APC) would form the next government at the central, saying “PDP time is up.”
According to him, “There is no provision in the Nigeria constitution that stated that a scheduled election shall be postpone. There is also no provision that an interim government should be put in place. We only know that the constitution had provided for a free and credible election.”
Tambuwal assured the people of the state of a responsive and open door government of elected as the governor in the forthcoming elections.
Also speaking, the state governor, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko said he had chosen Tambuwal as his successor due to the confidence he repose on him.
He urged the people of the State to vote for the party governorship candidate in the forthcoming general elections in order to sustain the good legacy he had started. “I have confidence in Tambuwal, he declared.
The governors of Kwara and Edo states, Alhaji Abdulfatai Ahmed and Comrade Adams respectively praised Tambuwal’s style of leadership and called on the party supporters to cone out en mass and vote during the forthcoming general elections.
Other speakers include former governors of Kebbi, Zamfara and Lagos states, Senator Adams Aliero, Senator Ahmed Yerima respectively urged massive supports for the Speaker Aminu Tambuwal.
They described Tambuwal as a visionary, dedicated and upright politician and the right candidate for the Sokoto people in the forthcoming governorship election the state.
The National leader of the party and former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu said that APC remained the only solution to the country’s woes. He maintained that the party is the cure for headache caused as a result of the PDP bad governance.
The event was attended by bigwigs of All Progressive Congress (APC) that include former interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, former Lagos governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governors of Edo, and Kwara states, Comrade Adams Oshiomole and Alhaji Abdulfatai Ahmed respectively, among others.
