From Osakhare Erese, Asaba

Piqued by what they described as” dead party “, members of the All progressives Congress (APC) in their thousands on Monday dumped the party for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ndokwa East and Ndokwa west local government council Areas of Delta State.
The angry defectors armed with brooms and membership cards of All progressives Congress (APC) at an open field in Kwale town, headquarters of Ndokwa West local government council area, set their cards, brooms ablaze including flag of the party.
Addressing the defectors, the PDP chairman in the area, M r,Emmanuel Egbamuno while welcoming them, said though automatic tickets were recently ruled out for those who defected to the party, but assured them of the party’s commitment to ensuring they rank among equal with old members and assured them of equal recognition, benefit with older members of the party.
He described their decision to embrace PDP as wise, especially as it was crystal clear that APC, as ruling party, had in the last three years misled Nigerians.
While warning the defectors against anti party activities, Egbamuno called on leaders or the party in the areas to embrace them with open hands, and provide them equal opportunity for them to contribute towards moving the party forward in the areas, disclosing that PDP will do everything possible to rescue Nigerians from the failing hands of All Progressive Congress (APC).
The party chairman, however, used the forum to appreciate all units leaders of PDP, and members, for their efforts towards victory of their councilors and local government council chairmen during the last January local government elections.
Two of the defectors, Abel overa and Enofoke Enase, who spoke to our reporter said that they took the decision to leave APC owing to the fact that the party had lost focus and grip of the local government area in Delta State.
