Tension and fear of the unknown has continued to unsettle residents of Idumuje Ugboko Community in Delta State, following the alleged Kidnap of the Monarch by unidentified gunmen at the weekend.
Though the Delta State Police Command through the Public Relations Officer ( PPRO) DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya claimed she was not aware of the Kidnap, but sources said that the Monarch, Obi Oreze Justin Nwoko was allegedly taken away at gunpoint by the Kidnappers who drove into the community in a bus without a plate number.
Our informed Sources said that they suddenly heard gunshots around the palace at the weekend when some eight masked men allegedly broke into the Palace of Obi Nwoko and took away the king in black bus.
But speaking with our Correspondent on telephone, the Personal Assistant to the Monarch, Mr Illobah Matthew Anene confirmed the abduction, noting that he was called to be informed in the night about the kidnap of the King , adding that the Kidnappers had taken the traditional ruler to somewhere in Asaba as efforts were being made to release him.
When Contacted, the Divisional Police Officer ( DPO) in the area, DSP Lawal Muhammad said that he was yet to be briefed as at the time of this report.
But he however said that he would make some contacts to know the true situation of things and urged the members of the Community and the entire Public to provide useful information that could lead to the Monarch’s rescue.
