Tecno set to establish phone manufacturing plant in Nigeria

The Head public relations, Transsion holdings of Techno Mobile company, Mr. Mounir Boukali has said plans are underway to establish a Tecno Manufacturing plant in Nigeria.

This according to him is a result of the company focused in supporting the development of ICT in Nigeria.

“Tecno mobile came into Nigerian market in 2008 with a goal to make smartphones more accessible within the Nigeria society. Tecno mobile products right now meets the local demand in Nigeria and other African countries because this is the region we solely serve.

“We are committed to doing business in Nigeria and to buttress our commitment to the Nigerian market, plans are underway to establish a Tecno manufacturing plant here in Lagos, Nigeria.

“The future is bright ladies and gentlemen; by 2017, research suggests that 70% of phones in the world will be a smartphone. With this in mind, we remain focused on supporting the development of ICT in Nigeria. Tecno mobile aims to foster local contents and innovations in this market by assisting in the development of local and customized apps for our android handsets.” He said.

Boukali who spoke at the launching of the Tecno latest innovation, Phantom Z smartphone in lagos yesterday assured Nigerians that the company will continue to support the government to meet her vision 2020. “We will continue to support the Government of Nigeria with her efforts in ensuring that ICT plays its role in transforming Nigeria to meet her vision 20:2020.” He noted.

Also speaking, The representative of the National Communication Commission (NCC), Mr. Efosa Idehen while reiterating efforts of the company in the line of accessibility and affordability made it known that it would be a welcome development if the company can create a manufacturing factory in Nigeria.

He said, “Since they told us today that they are going to help build up a manufacturing factory, it is a plus for the telecom industry and it will create jobs for Nigerians.

“We are happy these things are happening and the regulator will wants to encourage anybody who wants to play in the industry to play by the rules at all times and provide good quality materials for the Nigerian populace.” He noted.
