Tecno L8 Plus vs. Tecno L9 Plus: Comparison

Tecno L series is the brand’s flagship line of devices, which is why it’s not surprising that every new L-phone always generates a lot of attention. The Tecno L9 Plus, released this year, is the successor of the Tecno L8 Plus, released in 2016. But which one should you buy? Find out from our comparison and buy your Tecno L8 Plus on Jiji.

Display and design

Tecno L8 Plus has a screen size that is pretty common for its segment – the 5.5-inch display is the favorite screen size for most modern users. The body of the L8 Plus is made from plastic and the selection of colors is somewhat limited, as only two common shades are available.

The first difference of the Tecno L9 Plus from the L8 Plus is seen instantly: the successor boasts a 6.0-inch display, which may prove too large for users with average-sized hands. However, the body of the L9 Plus is made from metal and there is a wider range of colors, which includes the trendy Champagne shade. If you’re not a fan of phablet devices with enormous screens, go for the Tecno L8 Plus.

Performance and OS

The Tecno L8 Plus offers competitive specifications for the price: there are 2GB of RAM, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, and 16GB of internal storage. The only downside in terms of specs may be the preinstalled OS Android 5.1, which will require a manual update to the latest version of Android.

The Tecno L9 Plus, on the other hand, comes with Android 7.0 on board – it’s not the latest version of Android available today, but it’s certainly more advanced than version 5.1. The performance specifications of the L9 Plus are largely similar to L8 Plus: there is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which is exactly what you’ll find in the Tecno L8 Plus. That is why the L8 Plus may be a better choice than the Tecno L9 Plus.

Camera and battery

None of the phones are marketed as devices for photography enthusiasts, but decent cameras in a smartphone is a standard requirement for modern buyers. The camera specs of the L8 Plus are rather average: there is a 8MP flash-equipped rear camera and a 2MP front camera. The cameras in the L9 Plus are better: there are 13MP and 5MP cameras, and both are flash-enabled.

The battery capacity is one of the main deciding factors for users today. The L8 Plus battery has a 5050 mAh capacity, while the battery in the L9 Plus only has 5000mAh, which may not be a huge difference, but it’s another point in favor of the Tecno L8 Plus.
