Taraba Assembly approves mandatory deduction from workers’ salaries for police

The Taraba state House of assembly has approved and adopted the mandatory one percent deduction from the state and the local government’s monthly allocation for the funding of the Nigeria Police in the country.

This followed a request by the state Acting Governor, Alhaji Garba

Umar, on the resolutions of the National Economic Council (NEC) mandating all states and local government to contribute one percent of their monthly allocation for funding of the police to meet up with the present security challenges in the country.

After reading the letter before the Assembly, Haruna Gbana, Joseph Albasu and Edward Baraya supported the request and said the issue of security is necessary particularly with the present challenges, adding that the matter is a national issue which needs not to be debated upon.

After deliberating on the issue, the members unanimously adopted the communiqué after which the Speaker, Josiah Sabo Kente directed the clerk of the House, Isma’ilu Ukwen Tentason to communicate the Executive arm on the resolution reached.
