Ahead of the December 8 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries to ascertain who becomes the party’s flag bearer come 2015 general elections in Taraba State, the Garba Umar Campaign Organization has expressed its determination to emerge victorious thereby picking the ticket for its principal, Alh. Garba Umar.
The campaign coordinator in the state, Engr. Ahmed Yusuf, who made this disclosure during an interactive session with journalists, said the confidence of Garba Umar’s Campaign Organisation towards winning the PDP primaries took its root from the just concluded PDP ward and local government congresses in the state.
Ahmed Yusuf emphasized that in all the 168 wards of the state, they have the capacity and better chances to give a clean sweep of all the delegates.
“Our immediate and primary concern in the Campaign Team is to deliver Garba Umar come 8 December, 2014 and we are on course.” He pointed out that without any fear of contradiction; the Campaign Team is going to return in landslide, Alh. Garba Umar stressing that they are focused, composed and know what they are doing.
The campaign coordinator further debunked insinuations making the rounds that the Presidency as well as the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has prevailed on the state Acting Governor to back down his 2015 governorship ambition.
Also debunked was that the former governor, Jolly Nyame is the campaign coordinator of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in Taraba State.
His words, “We are not under any pressure from neither the Presidency nor the National Secretariat of PDP to back down, nobody has asked us to stop or that we should not continue with the race, Alh. Garba Umar is in the race and Jolly Nyame is working hand in hand with him”.
He stated that there is nothing wrong in Rev. Jolly Nyame working for President Goodluck Jonathan in Taraba State as his campaign coordinator but the true position according Ahmed remains that former governor Jolly Nyame was picked in Taraba State to form part of President Goodluck Jonathan’s Presidential Declaration Committee.
