Tambuwal, Commissioner bag UNESCO award on education

Sokoto state governor, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has been conferred with the 2018 Education Solutions Stakeholders Award by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The award was in recognition of his selfless contribution to quality education in the state.
The governor announced this on Monday on his Facebook page.
He said the statement was contained in a letter sent to him by the Chairman of the Award Committee, Dr Hul Hsu.
“We have great pleasure in inviting you to our 2018 Education Solutions Stakeholders Award… This event will recognize personalities who have made exceptional contribution to quality education and we are delighted to inform His Excellency that he is nominated to recieve the 2018 Education Solutions Stakeholders Award in recognition of your selfless contribution to quality education in Sokoto state.
“Presenting the award at the United Nations Headquarters Millennium Hotel in New York on Saturday April 21, 2018, the Chairman of the Award Committee, Dr Hul Hsu, disclosed that the award is a sign that Governor Tambuwal is working towards a better educational policy in Sokoto state,” Its reads.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Higher Education in the state, Dr. Jabbi Kilgori was also honored with Advisor Education Solutions for UNESCO in recognition for his selfless contribution to the development of grassroot and community education in Sokoto state.
Recall that Governor Tambuwal in the last three years of his administration had revamped the education sector in the state by declaring a ‘State of Emergency’ on the sector, thereby constituting three different committees as chaired by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III.
