Tambuwal commends army over role in nation building

Sokoto state governor, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has commended the vital role played by the Nigerian Army in ensuring peace and stability in the country.
Tambuwal gave the commendation at the 2018 West Africa Social Activities (WASA) celebration organized by 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Sokoto.
The governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Suleiman Usman, SAN, also charged them to remain committed in the discharge of their duties.
He said his government has taken cognisant of the Army’s efforts and urged them to remain proactive in the discharge of their duties.
He also acknowledged that the military efforts in Sokoto has restrained the activities of bandits in neighbouring state of Zamfara to escalate.
“We recognized efforts of the military in the State, especially in Isa and Goronyo local government areas of the state. The Army has helped in pushing back the activities of bandits in the state.” Tambuwal noted.
The governor assured his government continue support to their welfare, adding that the establishment of two command secondary schools in Tambuwal and Sokoto are part of the government’s supportive efforts.
Tambuwal, however, announced the donation of N50,000 cash gift to each of the cultural group that participated in the event.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Commander, 1 Brigade, Brigadier-General Lynus Udeagbala, said the annual event is aimed at promoting team spirits and confidence among men and officers of the brigade.
Udeagbala encouraged the personnel to approach the activities lied up for the new year with renewed zeal, vigour and commitment.
He also charged them to remain focused, dedicated and resilient in order to consolidate the achievements recorded so far.
The colourful event featured tug of war, dances by cultural groups as well as presentation of gifts and awards to distinguished soldiers and guests.
