The Sports Writers Associations of Nigeria (SWAN) FCT chapter has expressed shock and sadness at the news of the untimely death of former Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Dame Felicia Oluwaremilekun Oyo.
According to a statement issued by Assistant Secretary, Bunmi Haruna, FCT SWAN FCT, described the deceased as a woman who during her stay on earth, left her mark on the sands of time.
It would be recalled that the late Dame Oyo was reported to have died in a London Hospital on 1 October, 2014.
“To this end, we would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the Oyo family, friends, relatives as well as NAN.
“We can never forget your numerous good deeds aimed at developing sports in NAN, which includes building of a mini fitness centre for staff, instituted table tennis competitions, set up a volleyball team which competed in FEPSGA, sponsored reporters and photographers to International competitions among others.
“Dame Oyo, one of the most respected Nigerian female journalists will always be remembered for her exemplary leadership qualities, generosity and her remarkable transformation of the NAN during her tenure as the agency’s Managing Director.
