Persons suspected to be armed bandits operating in Delta communities in the early hours of Monday reportedly killed a driver of the National Union Of Road Transport Workers ( NURTW) identified as Sunny Bolowere with two others sustaining various injuries along Bomadi Ohoror road in Delta State.
Police Commissioner in the state, Adeleke Adeyinka who confirmed the incident to Journalists in Asaba, said that the incident occurred at the failed portion of the road near Odorubu Community in Patani local government area of the state, adding that the victim was on his way to Onitsha market when the hoodlums attacked him and shot him on the spot before shooting others.
Residents of the area are said to have been gripped in the fear of the unknown as the body of the victim had been removed the place of the incident to mortuary while the two other victims were taken to our lady hospital where they are currently receiving treatments in Bomadi
Adeyinka speaking further, assured that the killers of the road transport workers would be fish out very soon adding that everything were put in place to ensure that the killers are arrested soon
But the Bishop of Bomadi Doicese of the Catholic Church, Most Rev Hyacinth Egbebo said” this road has always been abandoned and we don’t have well enough roads leading to Bomadi, Now the road has cut into two at the Odorubu spot where people have been maimed and killed on weekly basis and my appeal to government is that people die on weekly basis at the spot and that should have been grave enough reason to consider coming to our help.”
