The Chairman of Federal Government SURE-P programme in Katsina State, Alhaji Garba Abdullahi Kurfi has disclosed that government had provided 3000 pieces of handsets to train beneficiaries of the programme in the state on e-transactions.
Speaking shortly after a meeting with the local government coordinators of the programme, Kurfi noted that some of the transactions that the beneficiaries would be train on included the sale of recharge cards, payment of Dstv, PHCN bills among others.
He similarly said that as from the 27th of this month two of the beneficiaries that would comprise one male and one female from each of the 34 local governments of the state would be mobilised to the state capital for the training on e-transactions.
Kurfi added that after the training the beneficiaries would go back to their respective local government to conduct a step- down training for other beneficiaries, calling on them to use the training to improve their economic status.
“With these training married women beneficiaries can at the comfort of their houses be transacting the business of the sales of recharge cards, Dstv payment and payment of PHCN bills. We hope they will take the training seriously,” he said.
The chairman further disclosed that the N10, 000 monthly allowances given to the beneficiaries that were meant to last for a year has been extended due to the government observation that the funds are supporting them to be self- reliant.
Kurfi similarly noted that the meeting held with the local government coordinators also discussed the problems face by some of the beneficiaries in accessing their funds in the participating bank, saying that they have discussed with the bank officials over the problem.
