Supreme Court FC of Abuja yesterday posted a superlative performance in its first home game in the Nigeria National League (NNL) to beat Sokoto FC 2-0.
Two goals each from Ernest Governor in the 38 minutes of play and another from Peter Michael in 47 minutes to ensured Supreme FC otherwise known as Apex Boys secure three points in an encounter decided at Old Parade Ground Garki, Abuja.
Going into the crunchy tie under usual Abuja hot weather condition, Supreme had better possession of the ball on a lush natural turf with attendant chances before a corner awarded to the home team which was carefully delivered through a well calculated header from Ernest.
As the second half got underway, Supreme continued their dominance in the game before Michael hit the net three minutes to the blast of whistle.
Speaking shortly after the match, Supreme Coach FC Coach Henry Haggai expressed satisfaction with the performance of his players but added “the players are coming up gradually with what I expect from them. I’m sure they will get better when they would have played more games.
“By and large, they gave a good account of themselves though they couldn’t take advantage of several chances which would have seen us score more goals to cover up our previous match deficit.
The Apex Boys will on Tuesday travel all the way to Bauchi to keep a date with Wikki Tourist in one of the NNL midweek matches.
