The national women football team, the Super Falcons were formally decamped on Wednesday after winning the African Women Championship (AWC) in Namibia for the 7th time. Team Administrator Ruth Davids who announced this to the players also disclosed that they are expected to return next week for a presidential reception at Aso Rock Villa.
President Goodluck Jonathan during a FEC meeting on Wednesday received the AWC trophy at the Villa from team captain Evelyn Nwabuoku in company of NFF president Amaju Pinnick and Coach Edwin Okon and promised to formally host them November 5. Also with the team was vice president Seyi Akinwunmi, executive member of the NFF Ahmed Fresh and President of the Nigeria football supporters club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo.
Meanwhile, according to Gracious Akujobi, media officer for the team, the players and team officials have been paid all entitlements accruing from their participation at the AWC.
