Super Eagles coordinator donates trophy to FCT FA

Super Eagles coordinator Emmanuel Atah has donated a trophy to the Federal Capital Territory Football Association for the winners of the State League.

Atah who was the immediate past Chairman of the FA said his decision to donate the trophy was borne out his usual desire to support the development of football at the grassroots.

“I have also pledge my support to the present administration in the FCT FA. They have been striving in their little ways to ensure that the game of football is developing further in the Federal Capital Territory. We appreciate them, and believed that the better ways to support and motivate them is to make this presentation” he said.

Atah who is an Assistant Director in the NYSC promised to do more for grassroots football in FCT.

In his response, the Chairman of the FCT FA Musa Talle appreciated the gesture of his predecessor in office, and promised that the task of developing the grassroot players remains a major task of his administration.

He called on other sports personalities to always give back to the society. He said that the donor would be on ground next week to present the trophy to winners of the FCT league when the finals would be played.

Meanwhile, four teams have qualified for the semi finals of the 2014 FCT Football League. The qualifiers are the NYSC strikers of Abuja, Alpha FC of Abuja, Medical strikers of Gwagwalada and Optimum Academy of Bwari.

According to the Acting Secretary of the FCT FA Haruna Usman Ilerika, the semi final pairings will see NYSC Strikers slugging it out with Alpha FC, while Medical strikers will settle scores with Optimum Academy.

He said the semi final matches would be on Monday 15 November,while the finals come up on Wednesday 17 November. Over 45 clubs took part in this year’s edition of the FCT Football League.
