Edo State University, Iyamho, Benin has state that they have no reason to join the ongoing strike declared by members of the Academic staff of Universities (ASUU).
This followed the commencement of the second semester examinations by the Institution.
ASUU, had earlier begun an indefinite strike on August 13 following alleged failure of the Federal government to faithfully implement the 2009 agreements and 2013 Memorandum of Understanding it signed with the union.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Stephen Omodia, disclosed this yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen in Benin.
He said the move is to among others, aimed at achieVing an uninterrupted academic calendar and deepen learning and teaching of its students in the Institution.
According to him, “if we must do that, it will have the share compassion under the able leadership of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, that the academic system of the calendar should be stable and the import of that is to make us lay good foundation in terms of teaching and to also provide the functional basis of assessment”.
