Youth group under the aegis of unified Nigerians Youth forum have staged a peaceful protest to the National Assembly urging the lawmakers to desist from playing politics with the fight against corruption particularly with the appointees of the President.
The group led by its president, comrade Abdulsalam Kazeem, also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take urgent steps in addressing the allegation of corruption against members of his cabinet if his cabinet fight against corruption must stand the test of time.
Receiving the group on behalf of the president of the senate, Bukola Saraki, senator Matthew Urhoghide, who insisted that any one with corruption allegation leveled against them must face the charges, called on Nigerians to be patient with the parliament as committees have been set up to look into the allegations raised by Senator Isah Misau.
On his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara,, represented by Rep Segun Adekola, promised that the demands of the group would be looked into even as he decried the lack of investment in social core values in the nations teaming young generation.
The group says the character assassination, abuses and frustration directed at the Inspector general of police, EFCC acting chairman, Custom CG and professor Saggay are orchestrated to frustrate the president’s fight against corruption.
