The Niger state Director General monitoring and evaluation, Alhaji Iliyasu Dackho has been arrested by the state security service in Minna at around 7pm yesterday.
A family source told our reporter that he was arrested by 3 armed men of SSS at his residence after 2 hours search of his office, home and even his wife’s rooms, without communicating to him the reason.
Findings revealed that the security operative only told him they were sent by their office, urging him not to say a word to anybody, threatening to deal with him if he eventually did so.
It was gathered that the operatives stormed his house around 5pm of Thursday and was whisked away at around 7 p.m., following the directive from the director of SSS Mr. Larry Obiagwu.
His arrest, according to report, was not unconnected with the state governor of Niger state, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.
The arrested Dackho, who was operating without an official office, was responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of all contracts awarded by Niger state government, including the joint local government account projects, especially the 10km road project abandoned, in which the new commissioner ministry of local government, Alhaji Isah Kantigi expressed disappointment recently, saying that some heads will roll over the matter.
All effort through calls to get response from the director of SSS failed, as he did not pick his calls as at the time of going to the press.
