The Department of State Services (DSS) yesterday paraded a 400-level student of University of Jos, Eldred Magnus Jonah, and five other members of a kidnap syndicate (including a native doctor) responsible for the kidnap of President Goodluck Jonathan’s uncle, Chief Nitabai Inengite on February 23, this year and ten members of another gang responsible for the kidnap of two sisters in Life Camp, Abuja.
While parading the suspects, spokesperson of the Service, Ms Marilyn Ogar said Chief Inengite was kidnapped by the syndicate at Otuoke community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa state in an ash colored Honda jeep and taken to Onuegbu waterside from where he was transferred into a waiting speed boat and taken to the creeks.
She said Inengite was held captive at two different locations, the Creek of Brass, very close to the Atlantic Ocean and Okigbene Creek and was released after seventeen days without payment of ransom following security operation by the service.
Eldred, 30 year-old indigene of Nembe town was said to have masterminded the kidnap of Chief Inegite and provided take off grant of forty thousand naira for arms procurement and other logistics.
He was said to have also carried out surveillance on the victim before his kidnap.
In another development, ten member of another syndicate responsible for the kidnap of two sisters aged fifteen and seventeen in New Life Camp Abuja on 8th June 2014 were also paraded.
