Hon. Olajide Olatubosun has pledged his support to the newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase.
Olatubosun, who indicated his intention to run for the position of the Speaker of the Ninth House and campaigned vigorously alongside others, said he withdrew from the race in national interest .
Olatubosun said since the election had been won and lost, the new leadership must be supported by all for it to succeed in working with the executive to deliver good governance.
He admonish the leadership to carry all members, including the opposition lawmakers along as it settles down to direct the affairs of the House.
He said “I congratulate the newly elected Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila and Deputy, Idris Wase.
The elections are over and I believe we are all winners.
I therefore pledge my support and loyalty to the House leadership and to our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I was driven by a patriotic zeal and determination to inject fresh ideas into the House of Representatives and the nation’s legislative business by leading a House that will prioritise the needs of our people; and cooperate with the executive to deliver good governance and help the President to take our people to the Next Level of prosperity and abundance.
“I call on the new House leadership to be magnanimous in victory by carrying all lawmakers along irrespective of their political affiliation.
“As a dedicated and responsible party man, I hereby join others to pledge my support to the House leadership. I call on all my colleagues to do same so that together we can join hands to move the country forward.
I also use this opportunity to thank all my colleagues, my constituents, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), the media and all Nigerians who supported my aspiration. I appreciate you all.
