Southern Kaduna crisis: Group moves to strengthen security synergy

A Group, Global Peace Foundation has organised a parley aimed at strengthening security agencies and community relationship in Kaninkon Chiefdom of Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State ahead of the Christmas celebration.
Coordinator of the Organisation, Sheikh Halliru Maraya stated this while addressing the gathering at Unguwan Fari, Kaninkon yesterday.
According to him, the meeting was aimed at creating an open conversation between members of the community and security agencies on ways to guard against breach of law and order.
“This meeting would also create an open conversation that would map out action plan on how to improve communication between security apparatus and members of the community,” he said.
Sheik Maraya said the meeting is the continuation of the organization campaign of “One Family Under God,” Where the people are encouraged to accept ,embrace and accommodated people from both the Christmas Muslim faiths and all tribes as members of the human esteemed family.
It will be recalled that on the eve of christmas some years ago,unidentify gun men attacked and killed 16 people at Goska in kaninkon chiefdom which lead to increase of tension and violence.
“We cannot afford a repetition of yet another incidence of loss of lives and property, a such, we intend to establish synergy between the security agencies deployed to the area on how we can work together and provide useful information that would further consolidate peaceful coexistence,” he said.
Also, Rev. Joseph Hayab, Co-Cordinator of the Organisation and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State said the program was supported by Robert Bosch Foundation, stressing the need for members of the community to build some level of trust on security agencies.
