It was an atmosphere of joy and fulfilment, when five Companies were awarded the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) Certificate by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) FCT State Office, Abuja.
In what was termed as an epoch making event, two out of the five Companies made history by being the first to receive the MANCAP Certificate for Distribution Power Transformers, wooden flush doors and wood styles and Kitchen Cabinets.
The State Coordinator, Mr. Dimka Gambo, said the Certification of products by SON does not only ensure integrity but also a tool for ensuring business enterprise produce products that have met requirements.
He clarified that the Companies products were subjected to periodic monitoring, inspections and testing in accordance to the Nigerian Industrial Standards.
Mr. Dimka further explained that the Certificates are valid for three years after which they are subject to renewal. He said if their was a default in the quality of the products, the Organisation will not defect to withdraw the Certificates.
Speaking on behalf of the Awardees, Mr..Andrew Odeh a representative of G U Ebeco Industries Ltd. thanked SON for assisting the Companies to achieve the milestone and promised to work harder in ensuring that their products constantly meets the Standards , while at the same time, He called on the Federal Government to patronise local manufacturers so as to boost their productions.
Also on hand to witness the ceremony was the Executive Secretary of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) FCT chapter, Mr. Okpe Sunday.
The Companies awarded the MANCAP Certificates includes; Novak Nig. Ltd, HEM Engineering and Technical Services Ltd, Vision Concrete Industry Nig. Ltd, GU Ebeco Industries Ltd, and Sunmate Global Services Ltd.
