Former Minister of Transport and leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto state, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, has assured that PDP in 2015 will recover its stolen mandate from Governor Aliyu Wamakko, who defected to All Progressives Congress (APC).
He described PDP in Sokoto state as one united family with commitment and understanding toward ensuring success of the party above any interest in the forth coming election.
Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman stated this at PDP National Headquarters Abuja, while submitting his Governorship expression of interest and nomination forms to the National Organising Secretary of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Mustafa.
He said the party is determined to recover the stolen mandate given to PDP through Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko in 2011 before he defected to APC, vowing that they will not leave any stone unturned to achieve this assignment.
He said his interest to aspire for the Governorship of Sokoto state is borne out of sympathy on the plight of the people of Sokoto state as a result of poor governance, lack of political will to create befitting programme by the present administration.
He said the Wamnako administration has nothing to offer on the table to develop the state in the last 7 years, saying “I have all the needed experience toward creating good leadership that will better the state and ensure progress and fight poverty through creating better programme which will have direct bearing on all the people of the state”.
He called on the party leadership in the state to ensure justice and fairness, while handling issues of the party during primaries to choose candidates of the party in order to avoid crisis within the party.
Speaking at the submission of the forms, National Organising Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Mustafa, assured that all the aspirants will be given equal treatment and that the party is ready to support them toward achieving their goals.
Hundreds of party supporters from Sokoto state thronged the National Headquarters of the PDP at Wadata Plaza, Abuja to supports and cheer him up in the submission ceremony.
