Socio- cultural group constructs road, donates 18 motorcycles to end kidnapping, banditry

The Egbura National Development Association ( ENDA ), a socio- cultural group of Egbura speaking people in Kogi, Nasarawa and the FCT, has commenced construction of Kanyehu – Uttu road in Toto LGA of Nasarawa state to augment efforts of the security in clearing the areas of criminal elements.
The areas had become the safe heaven of kidnappers and Darul Salaam terrorists group for years until the recent military operations cleared the areas.
In its contributions towards permanent peace and security of the areas, therefore, ENDA commenced the construction of the road to link the Local government to border communities of Kogi LGA in Kogi state.
According to the group, this development will deny the criminals the escape routes they used after committing their heinous activities, as well as opening up the areas for socio-economic cooperation with their neighbours.
The group has also donated number of 18 motorcycles to the security agents to boost their capability to rid the areas of the remnants of the displaced criminals in the LGA.
Presenting the motorcycles to the Executive Chairman of the LGA, Prince Nuhu Adamu Dauda, the Chairman of the Welfare, Finance and Implementation Committee, Hon. Musa Ahmadu Adohinoyi, represented by Hon. Isimbabi Mohammed Garba, explained that 10 and three (3) motorcycles each were for Vigilante Group of Nigeria ( VGN ) of Toto LGA and Abaji Area Council of the FCT respectively, while five (5) were for the use of the military super camp situated at Kanyehu Community of the area.
He said the gesture was meant to curtail the insecurity challenges facing the area.
He said: “This singular gesture is to express our appreciation for their gallant efforts in dislodging dreaded Darus-salam and bandits who were terrorising the local government areas.
“ENDA as a body is pleased with this singular effort. We will as a body continue to partner with security agents in the area to secure a crime free Toto local government area.
“As the activities of the bandits and kidnappers in the past had affected the lives of our people negatively.”
Alh. Adohinoyi further explained the road construction undertaken by the group to link Kenyehu – Uttu on the side of Nasarawa state and Kparekye Koton Karfe in Kogi state, was to boost security of the area.
“The grading of Kenyehu – Uttu road linking to Kparekye Koton Karfe Local Government in Kogi state is ongoing and semi model health facility is under construction and drilling of borehole to ease the work of our gallant officers .
“This is what ENDA as body is doing for now. We are grateful to His Excellency, the Nasarawa state Governor, Engr Abdullahi A. Sule, for his exemplary leadership in riding our communities of criminal elements and this is part of efforts to show support to his administration.”
Chairman of the local government in his response, Prince Dauda, urged other spirited individuals and groups to emulate ENDA for the overall development of the areas.
He also called on the people of the local government to sustain their supports to state government in its drive to ensure a lasting peace in LGA in particular and the state in general.
Speaking on the development, Chairman, traditional council of the local government and the Paramount ruler of Opanda Chiefdom, HRH, Ohimege Opanda, Alh Usman Abdullahi, applauded the ENDA for the grading of the Kenyehu – Uttu road.
He further called on the Governor appealed Sule to consider making Kenyehu – Uttu road as a priority, adding that road was the shortest link between Nasarawa and Kogi states.
