From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina
An International Non-governmental organisation, Save the Children International has donated skill acquisition materials worth N8, 735,611.00 to five local governments under its REACH Programme in Katsina State.
Donating the material on behalf of the organization, yesterday in Katsina, the Project Director, Dr. Modupe Taiwo said the donation would assists the beneficiaries to be self-reliant and improve their economic status.
The items donated according to Taiwo includes; big plastic container, hand gloves, butterfly big stoves, bid size silver pots, small size containers, chemical for pomade making, chemical for detergent, chemical for room air freshener, Ankara, sewing machine manual, big scissors.
Others include: Sewing thread all colors, measuring tape, 1kva generator, Charcoal iron, work station, sodding iron, DC power digital,plastic tables, micro screw driver pack, fancy bags.
The rest are stamp pad, calculators, share out cards,vcl box and branded water bottle.
Taiwo added that the organization has made a donation of N30 million in all the three participating States of Zanfara, Gombe and Katsina State,
In a remark, the Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hajiya Rabia Muhammad Daura commended the save the children for its intervention in advancing children health and education.
She similarly charged the benefitting local governments to make proper use of the materials and ensure it reached the intended target.
