Bauchi State Government will soon implement Treasury Single Account to eliminate revenue leakages in the state.
The State Commissioner, Finance and Economic Development, Alhaji Garba Sarki Akuyam disclosed this at the opening of a two -day workshop on the implementation of the policy for the state government held at River Edge Hotel Bauchi.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Kabiru Sade, the Commissioner said the state government has gone far for the implementation of the Treasury Single Account considering it importance towards ensuring accountability and transparency in the financial management.
He said to ensure effective implementation of the policy in the State, high powered committee was constituted to work out modalities.
Akuyam also said government has seen the impact of the TSA policy as adopted by the Federal Government and some states of the federation.
Speaking at the occasion, the State Accountant General, Ibrahim Gokaru, represented by the Director Special Duties, explained that if the policy was implemented in the state, it will improve human development and accountability in financial management.
Speaking on the Treasury Single Account as a Government Reform Programme, a Resource Person, Alhaji Muhammad Arab Kolo recalled that the policy is part of the public financial management reforms under the World Bank.
Alhaji Arab Kolo said inability for the government to undertake effective cash planning and management as well as delay in budget execution resulted to the adoption of the TSA policy.
