Three state governors who have distinguished themselves in the service of humanity, especially in the area of livestock development have been slated for Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) merit awards.
The governors are Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos state, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state and Chief Willie Obiano,Governor, Anambra state.
It was also gathered that some individuals and organizations who have distinguished themselves in service of the veterinary profession and humanity are scheduled to be honoured by the association.
The merit awards would be given to these distinguished governors during 51st Annual Congress of Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) which comes up in Kaduna from 23rd – 28th November, 2014. Chairman Local Organizing Committee Dr. Usman Umar who stated this in a statement and made available to newsmen said the event is expected to draw not fewer than 3000 Veterinarians nationwide from across the country.
He added that the theme of the conference is “The Veterinarian in National Development and that the keynote speaker would be Dr. Abdul Alimi Bello President, Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Minnes and Agriculture.
Dr Usman explained further that the committee have put adequate security arrangement in place in collaboration with relevant security agencies.
He urged Participants and invited guests to cooperate with the security agents at all times during the conference.
“The 5 day event is scheduled to include scientific and business sessions, excursions to historic sites in Kaduna State, Sporting events and cultural displays.
At the end of the conference a new national executives will be elected to lead NVMA for the next two years,” he said.
He said the conference would be under the chairmanship of General Martin Luthar Agwai (rtd), Chairman, SURE – P Kaduna State Governor, and that kaduna governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero would serve as chief host while Alh. (Dr) Shehu Idris, Emir of Zazzau is the Royal Father of the Day.
