The Peoples Democratic Movement ( PDM) gubernatorial candidate in Katsina State in 2015, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke and several thousands of his supporters have dumped PDM for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defectors were received weekend by the PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus at the PDP North-West zonal rally in Katsina.
Speaking at the ceremony, the PDP national chairman has expressed delight that a high profile politician like senator Lado and thousands of his supporters would add value to the party ahead of the 2019 election.
Secondus added that all the decampees would enjoy all benefits and privileges like older members of the party, adding “PDP is a party for all and nobody will be discriminated against. Ours is a party that cares for all Nigerians”.
The national chairman however observed that with the large crowd that grace the ceremony the party according to him “is poised to take over power in Katsina state and at the federal level in the 2019 general elections”.
He similarly averred that his party if elected would strive in bringing food to the table of all Nigerians, alleging that the APC was only bent of spreading hunger, poverty and sadism in the land.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Senator Lado pledged to mobilize all his political arsenals in making sure the PDP wrest power from the APC in Katsina state and the federal level.
Lado however called on all party members to unite to save the country from the myriad of problems confronting it, promising that the PDP would provide Nigerians with alternatives that would promote securityand economic well being of the citizenry.
Those who attended the ceremony include incumbent governors of Gombe, Ekiti and Akwa- Ibom states. Others include the former governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Shema, former governor of JigawaState, Alhaji Sule Lamido, Ex-governor of Kano state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, and former governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa among others.
